We take portraits, not pictures.

  • “Why are you called SoHo Shoots?”

We live and work almost exclusively in SoHo; SoHo Shoots sums it up quite nicely.

    “Who are you?”

Getting a little philosophical for an FAQ here! I’m a professional portrait photographer with over 15 years of experience. I’m originally from London, England but have lived and worked in SoHo for the best part of a decade.

“Do you shoot anywhere else apart from SoHo”

You can pay lots of photographers to shoot in SoHo, but you can’t really pay us to shoot anywhere else.

“What photography do you specialize in?”

    Portraiture.

    “What cameras do you use?”

We like how medium format looks… so we use medium format cameras. Predominantly the Fuji GFX100s

“How long does an average session take?”

The time you’ve paid for should really be used exclusively for shooting. For sessions of an hour or longer, we like to get a coffee and get to know you a bit better before the session time starts. It’s not mandatory, but it helps you get the most out of your time and (we think) creates better photographs.

“How long until I get my photos?”

Typically within 5 working days, if you need it faster, let us know. Professional Editing is time-consuming and we like to get it right.

“How many photos will I receive?”

For an hours session, around 8 images will be received, and 4 high-quality edits are included in the pricing. 2 hours, double that, half an hour, halve that. Quick math.

“Can I have all the photos and just edit them myself”

We promise to deliver the best images from your shoot, that’s in our best interests - depending on your session time, that amount of images will arrive edited and complete. The ‘rest’, were not selected for a reason (eyes shut/wind blew hair/better example of photo e.t.c) so we consider the shots we send, the very best and final.

“How many outfit changes can I do”

Time and location play a strong factor in this, so we suggest you be pragmatic - if we are shooting on the streets of SoHo you’re not going to have easy access to changing rooms and outfit changes will use up valuable time. Try to be really intentional about why you’re doing these photos, adding/removing jackets or scarves/accessories is a great way to stay efficient. If you’re looking for lots of cute pics in lots of cute outfits - we love that for you, but you’ll likely be better served by another photographer.

As a rule of thumb, a one-hour photoshoot allows 1 outfit change (so, 2 outfits in total)

“Can we shoot in a studio?”

Absolutely, we do studio work all the time. This will be more expensive, but once we know your budget we can plan accordingly. We will only ever charge you, what the studio charges us. There are some fantastic studio spaces in SoHo, we can help you price it.

“Do you provide make-up / hair?”

We don’t provide make-up/hair/wardrobe - so recommend taking care of that in advance.

“Can you make this bigger/smaller in post?”

We understand the appeal of wanting things photoshopped heavily, but if that’s the look you’re after, we’re not the right photographers for you. Our simple rule with re-touching is “if it will be there next month, it stays in the shot.” We believe that real beauty is about accepting who you are - for many people, these sessions can really help with that :)Description text goes here
